Captain Braveheart

Fictional Character

Captain Braveheart was created by the Earther author Cecily Smith-Rackham in a long running series of dramatic adventure stories, the first being published in 3185.

Remaining popular all over Earther space, Smith-Rackham's main character Captain Alex Braveheart is good-looking, capable, honourable - and, of course, always overcomes their dastardly foes. Supported by a regular cast of characters, including 'Number 1' (Commander Dick Dangerous), scientist 'Professor Golightly' and cheeky personal valet "Bob".
The books critical reception has been mixed, many regarding them as little more than thinly veiled Imperial propaganda and unashamed jingoism. There have been compiaints also about the way other nationalities are sterotyped, and a number of early stories have been re-edited to excluded references to the Venerian Republic as Treens ( a term regarded a s deeply offensive on New Venus).
