Recent History

In 3202 the colony's new dictator President Angmar Archadius created an "Anti-Berserker Sympathizers" Law under which over 20,000 people were arrested and imprisoned without trial. Many of those arrested disappeared and it was widely regarded as a means to suppress political dissent and opposition.
The regime also passed a 'Planetary Security Act' curtailing public media, banning street gatherings and censoring the local planetnet.

In 3203 the regime has declared state of emergency. Under this parliament was been suspended ‘for the duration of the emergency’ and the security forces given special powers to 'protect planetary security' – including imprisonment without trial, and unlimited powers of stop and search.

In 3209 the regime impounded an number of GFA-registered merchant ships, triggering diplomatic intervention by the Q7 GFA Governor and the deployment of GFA naval forces to the system. Ultimately the GFAN conducted a successful raid to rescue the imprisoned merchant crews. The Regime accused the GFA of 'piracy'

In 3214 New Republican warships repelled raids by Nebokian-sponsored space pirates.

In 3215 the Angmar regime made moves to intimidate and coerce the neighbouring system of The Joint by declaring it a 'Protectorate of Nebok'

In 3217 Arcadius was forcibly deposed by GFA military forces. The period following this was unstable as two major political parties struggled to establish a rules-based political system. Both claimed victory in the first free elections, and the process was marred by violence revenge killing and intimidation.

The fighting and political unrest continued for several years as the economy nose-dived in the early 3220's, leading to economic collapse and mass migration off-world to neighbouring colony worlds (such as Y17).
