Special Intelligence Agency (SIA)

International Intelligence Organisation

Background

The SIA was originally established as the Supreme Intelligence Agency in 3200 under the Treaty of Old London as humanity's joint intelligence agency with a centralised HQ located at Kumarajiva.
The earlier organisation, the United National Investigation Team (UNIT) originally based in Q7 (and created under the Treaty of Potomax) was to be retained under the auspices of the SIA.
The organisation was re-named Special Intelligence Agency under the conditions of the Treaty of Old London 2 of 3203.
Funding for the SIA and UNIT is provided by the Maldenite Democratic Foundation.

Operations

Originaly the SIA was operating widely across Quadrant 5, Quadrant 6 and Quadrant 7. Its remit was focussed on understanding the technology and motivations of the Exterminator threat. The SIA therefore contained a very high proportion of analysts and technical subject matter experts. Once the Exterminator War was deemed over, the SIA restructured to consolidate activities in Quadrant 0 and its colonial quadrant offices closed. Its intelligence activities resumed during the conflict with The Chosen.

From 3232, its activities have once again been scaled back, and it now only has a small specialist staff based on Kumarajiva in Quadrant 0.
