Viking

A component unit of an Exterminator Super Battleship (ESB)

Six vikings go to make up the fully functioning ESB. Until recently it was thought that all these Viking units were interchangeable, but it transpires that there are, in fact three sub-types ('Battery', 'Belt', and 'Thrust') with a degree of functional specialistion which becomes apparent when the ESB has formed into its fighting configuation.

VIKING BATTERY

There is one of these in a formed ESB. It is the forward facing module in the cluster. It is optimised for firepower. It cannot utilise all of its weapons when detached from the formed ESB.

VIKING BELT

There are four of these in a formed ESB. They are grouped in a 'belt' of four equidistantly placed around the central axis of the cluster.

VIKING THRUST

There is one of these in a formed ESB. It is the rearmost module in the cluster, and is optimised to provide acceleration thrust. It also generates a power surplus to support the higher than standard power requirement of VIKING BATTERY. The VIKING THRUST unit would also appear to be the location of the 'senior' Central Processing Unit that coordinates the the BRAINs of the other 5 modules.
