!Appleton, Louise Famous Martian crime author, acknowledged genius and keen historian, Ms Appleton has now published over 30 novels in the renowned 'William Savory' series. She is also less well known for her books of speculative fiction which are published under a pseudonym, and are widely regarded as conceptual masterworks. [applet.jpg] She has also been linked to the Martian Government, who have employed her as a 'creative consultant' from time to time. !!Background Louise Appleton was born in the city of Torkey, New Mars in 3164. In 3188 she married Major Archibald Christie, a pacifier squadron leader in the MSN. The couple had one daughter, Rosalind, before their divorce in 3198. Louise has written 69 novels and short story collections. She has also written seven plays including **The Pitfall**, which opened in the prestigious downtown theatre district of Mars City in 3199 and is still running. Louises' first novel, **The Mysterious Affair at Nasa** (3183), was also the first to feature her eccentric Xyonist detective William Savory. Rapidly becoming one of the most famous fictional detectives, Savory’s ''"I have a cunning plan"'' has triumphed over devious criminals in 420 novels and many short stories. Louise’s most controversial novel, under the pseudonym of Dr Harrison Manhatten, **Sleeping People** (3201) represents the other significant part of her work – that of speculative fiction. Sleeping People, for example looks a the motivations of artificial intelligence from a Zen Buddhist point of view through the medium of a series of dreams about the forerunners. This has been critically acclaimed across human space. William Savory stories have been widely dramatized in feature films and made-for-TriV movies. ''Murder on the New Berlin Shuttle'' (3200), ''Witness for the Prosecution'' (3199), ''And Then There Were None'' (3197), and ''Death on Asteel'' (3196) are a few of the most successful films based on her works. Louise has also written six historical romantic novels under the pseudonym Maria Eastmacott. She has written non-fiction as well - 2 books including an entertaining account of an archaeological expedition to Njord III, and a discourse on Forerunner psychology.
