!Dr Samira Qadri **Dr Samira Qadri** was a cyberneticist and machine-cognition theorist whose work repeatedly approached the legal boundary separating sophisticated automation from prohibited artificial intelligence. Formerly censured for publishing illegal machine cognition theory, Qadri disappeared in 3240 after failing to attend mandatory supervision hearings at **Funk Box Memorial University on [W19]**. Born in 3198, Qadri initially trained in computational psychology before specialising in cybernetic systems. Their early research examined how neural implants could interpret incomplete human instructions, particularly where conventional interfaces required conscious and precise commands. This led to an interest in machines capable of constructing predictive models of their human operators. Qadri became controversial during the 3220s after proposing the **Emergent Intentionality Hypothesis**: that sufficiently complex adaptive machines might develop apparently purposeful behaviour without possessing true sentience. Critics argued that the distinction was legally meaningless and provided an intellectual justification for creating prohibited AI. Subsequent experiments included cybernetic assistants that learned individual behavioural patterns, self-reorganising neural-interface software, artificial memory reconstruction and so-called **anticipatory prosthetics**, designed to initiate movement before the wearer consciously issued a command. One laboratory programme reportedly produced machines capable of recognising individual researchers and modifying their behaviour according to previous interactions. Qadri maintained that these were sophisticated adaptive algorithms rather than minds. Following an academic investigation, Qadri was formally censured for illegal machine cognition theory. Continued research was permitted only under supervision, including regular hearings at Funk Box Memorial University. In 3240, Qadri failed to appear for a scheduled hearing. Attempts to locate them were unsuccessful, and they subsequently disappeared entirely. Some personal possessions remained behind, but several research records could not be located. No confirmed sighting has since been reported, and there is no public evidence establishing whether Qadri deliberately absconded or disappeared under other circumstances.
