Count Down

Count Down, a small and resource-scarce colony in Quadrant Zero, stands in stark contrast to the wealthy homeworlds that dominate the quadrant. Established in the early days of interstellar expansion, the colony’s founders sought to create a self-sufficient society free from the influence of powerful corporate or political entities.
Despite its lack of abundant natural resources or economic prosperity, Count Down has maintained its fierce independence for over two centuries.

The colony’s tenacity is exemplified by its steadfast refusal to join any of the major polities that dominate human space, such as the Greater Federation of Asteel or the Mars Association of Free Colonies.
This independence, while celebrated locally, has made it challenging for Count Down to compete economically or technologically with its affluent neighbors. Nevertheless, its resilient population has fostered a vibrant culture centered on communal values, innovation, and self-reliance.

Count Down is a founding member of the [League of Non-Aligned Worlds] (LONAW), an organization advocating for the rights and sovereignty of smaller colonies in an interstellar political landscape often dominated by major powers. As a vocal member of LONAW, Count Down frequently champions policies that resist monopolisation and protect the autonomy of lesser-developed worlds. Its independence serves as a powerful symbol for colonies seeking to chart their own paths amid the complexities of interstellar politics.
