First Minister

Executive Power in the Empire is largely vested in the First Minister and their Cabinet. The First Minister is elected by the Senate every four years.

The Imperial Senate is selected by the Council of Representatives (elected by popular vote) from amongst powerful, important and experienced individuals within the Empire. Senators often remain incumbent for many years.

The relationship between the First Minister and the First Citizen is often a key factor in defining the political position of the Empire. At certain times this can lead to dynamic activities and at other to stagnation in decision making.

As at 3239 the First Minister is Vidkun Armstrong who has had a steady rise to power through the positions in the Colonial and Finance Ministries following a colourful period as Governor of Quandrant 6. He currently holds the position of First Minister and Finance Minister. Holding multiple such positions is relatively common practice but does give the incumbent significant executive authority.

Vidkun Armstrong's relationship with the First Citizen is currently very positive as both follow the Earth First policy, first espoused by First Minister Lee Zhang during his time as First Minister at the start of the 3200s.
