Early Life

Practically nothing is known about Gargunza's early life. There are multiple stories, that he was originally a Centauri admiral that turned to the life when his contract ended, another theory is that he was a passed over RN officer. Or that he is in fact a rogue artificial intelligence built by some master criminal.
Most outlandish theory is that he doesn't exist at all and is just some sort of product of mass delusion born of paranoia.

Area of Activity

There have been reports of Gargunza's depredations in Quadrant 1, Quadrant 8 and Quadrant 7. This is not inconsistent with the actions of a successful space pirate - making a killing then moving on before the authorities catch up with them.

The Draconis Star

Gargunza's ship, known as the Draconis Star is regularly sighted all over the Universe. Certainly there is good evidence that this name is closely associated with him, and it is very likely to be the actual name of his ship, but it is also suspected that many less well known pirates name their ships this way to trade on Gargunza's fearsome reputation. Hopefully those pirates never meet the real thing!

Reputation

Gargunza, whilst successful, had a reputation for ruthlessness, not only with regard to his adversaries but also to members of his crew who fall out of favour. In pirate circles, apparently he has a reputation for double-crossing other pirates and even his own crew.
There have been accusations that SSR Admiral Hands in Q7 was one such, as allegedly a reformed space pirate it is rumoured he was double-crossed by Gargunza and left for dead. Certainly Hands has never denied this.
