Forerunner Archeology

A branch of science focused on understanding the Forerunners. Since the formation of the International Forerunner Foundation, all archeology accross humanity is coordinated through the IFF - this is a massive undertaking (Note 1).

Unlike other types of archeology such as the industrial archeology of early human settlements, or digging the ancient landfills on Earth, the unknown technological nature of the task means that Forerunner Archeology has been described as like IED Bomb Disposal, only in the dark and wearing boxing gloves and using a hammer.

Dangerous, tense and subtle work at best.

Note 1: Whilst there is international agreement from major powers to pool their archeological efforts, such agreements do not bind independent worlds. As a result there are a number of 'freelance' archeology teams - whom some have said are no better than grave robbers and glory-seekers. Groups such as the Archaeology Roadshow Corp, and TimeTeam Interstellar are typical.
