The hostilities between the Republic of New Luxembourg (RNL) and We Got Here Colony (WGH) reached a significant new stage here as the main WGH naval base was hit by a nuclear weapon in the kilotonne range – destroying the facilities there and killing over 19,000 people. This was followed by an all out assault on WGH facilities in the Ying Archipelago – causing heavy losses and securing a number of key areas from WGH forces. Ongoing operations seem likely to result in a RNL victory by the end of the year.

Scientist Claims Forerunners ‘Will Return’

Professor Van Hazard of the Clewg-based Alternative Research Centre has been once again in the news for his controversial claims that he has incontrovertible proof that the Forerunners will shortly return to human space and deliver the fruits of many millenium of research to humanity ‘…their children…’. Van Hazard has once again been pooh-poohed by the respectable scientific community – but this has not discouraged the sales of his latest book, “My Family Are Forerunners”. He recently requested police protection from the Clewg government because, he alleged “They” are after him for “…what I know…”. He has been coy in public about precisely who “They” might be – but close friends suggest he firmly believes that the governments of humanity are controlled and manipulated by a secretive cabal who are keeping the Truth from humankind. Apparently he has not gone public with these views for fear of being thought eccentric.

Martial Law on Evangelou

Word has been filtering out of the sealed world of Evangelou that the planetary authorities have instituted Martial Law on the colony world. Stories are coming out of this mysterious world that the military are now in complete control and that the entire system is on a war footing – although quite what the threat is is utterly unknown. The Wolf government remains unavailable for comment on events at Evangelou, and appears to continue its political paralysis following the disappearance of Lord Young several octants ago. Prime Ministerial Elections have been suspended on Wolf 359 amid dark hints of an impending crisis of some sort. Opposition is growing to the current Wolf Government as a result of its inaction.
Z155 Arrests ‘Subversives’

The Christian Socialist Government on Z155 has passed new legislation outlawing ‘public subversion through quasi-religious extremeism”. This law is widely regarded as being the latest aspect of the struggle between the christianist majority and the increasingly vocal and violent satanist minority. The Goverment of First Minister Ian Floralpattern, leader of the Christian Socialists and himself an Elder of the First Church of Earth, has been accused in the past of ruling the world on a deeply sectarian basis. Challenged in 3207, Floralpattern managed to unexpectedly survive a vote of no confidence in the colonial council – his opponents say as a result of covert intimidation and threats.
The new laws were passed unanimously in the colonial council because the opposition Free Thought Party had boycotteded the meeting in protest. Following the creation of the new laws, the police have name many arrests, including some senior officials of the Free Thought Party. Some representatives are in hiding.
